Upfront grants from South Cambridgeshire District Council (SCDC) of between £100 and £400 are now available to support the vital work that community groups are carrying out to help vulnerable people and/or those who need to self-isolate. This grant is intended to be used for things such as:
- Hand sanitiser and basic protective equipment
- Printing of leaflets to help keep people informed about your community group and its activities
- Paying for a few days of shopping or topping up an electricity meter for people who need to suddenly self-isolate and are demonstrably in financial hardship.
In addition SCDC expect to provide ‘top-up’ funding in addition to the grants that they are offering upfront. They are not expecting to be able to help a family in hardship for more than a few days. This is intended as short-term assistance whilst arrangements are put in place for longer term help. Each case will have a unique set of circumstances and your SCDC officer patch lead will help on a case-by-case basis.
